Supercritical CO2 Extraction

You’re on the hunt for a cart…

But as you look further down the menu, you see they have full spectrum carts for the same price. Could be the “different and something more” you’re looking for, but you’re not sure, so you ask the budtender.

What is Extraction?

Cannabis plants contain numerous trichomes, or the houses in which the plant’s various compounds are stored. These compounds, such as terpenes and cannabinoids (THC and CBD), are what influence a strain’s effects – uplifting, giddy, relaxing, or sedative, for example. Extraction is the process of separating these trichomes from cannabis plant material. As a result, then, extraction also removes terpenes and cannabinoids, using a solvent to catalyze the separation.

Why CO2 Extraction?

Supercritical CO2 Extraction, then, is the process of applying enough pressure to CO2 gas, so that it turns into a liquid. This supercritical state binds with the goodies and draws them out from their homes (they go willingly, we promise), resulting in a crude oil of terpene and cannabinoid goodness.
